A businessman accused of selling travel tours for queer people in Russia has been detained

On November 30, in Moscow, 48-year-old director of the “Man Travel” tourism company, Andrey Kotov, was detained on suspicion of organizing trips within and outside of Russia for members of the LGBT community (the LGBT movement has been declared extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). This information was reported by the TASS news agency, citing law enforcement sources.

The detained individual is alleged to have been organizing a trip to Egypt for supporters of “non-traditional sexual values” for the New Year celebrations. He is being charged under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a religious organization banned and dissolved by a court decision due to extremist activities). Andrey Kotov has denied the accusations.

The defense has stated that the investigation has not presented sufficient evidence to justify his detention, and the criminal case does not confirm that Kotov organized tours for representatives of the LGBT movement.

According to public records, the “Man Travel” tourism company was registered in March 2024. Its officially listed activity is in the field of entertainment and performances.
