Jonathan Bailey becomes 2025’s highest-grossing box office star

British actor Jonathan Bailey has been named the highest-grossing box office star of 2025, following two consecutive blockbuster performances that dominated global cinema this year.

The 37-year-old, who was recently crowned PEOPLE magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” topped the rankings thanks to major roles in Wicked: For Good and Jurassic World: Rebirth.

According to Fiction Horizon, Wicked: For Good opened with $150 million domestically and $226 million worldwide in its first weekend, securing Bailey the top position for the year. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the sequel revisits the stories of Elphaba and Glinda, placing Bailey’s character — Fiyero — firmly at the centre of its narrative. The role has quickly become a favourite among queer audiences and Broadway fans.

His appearance in Jurassic World: Rebirth further boosted his box office standing, with industry analysts calling Bailey’s rise “one of the defining success stories of 2025.”
