First trailer for Netflix series Special explores life as a gay disabled man

“I love that you think I have enough self-esteem to be on Grindr.”

Netflix have released the first trailer for Special, a brand new eight-part comedy show loosely based on Ryan O’Connell’s part-memoir, part-manifesto I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, and it looks hilarious.

The series premieres on the streaming service on 12 April.

“I was in the closet about being gay, and then I was in the closet about being disabled, and now… no more closets,” he says in the trailer, which looks like it will be both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.
