Ukraine Parliament Considers LGBTQI+ Partnership Law
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the report of the Ombudsman, which recommended considering LGBTQI+ legislation.
On June 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the report of the Ombudsman, which recommended considering draft law No. 9103 “On registered partnerships.” This was reported by Trans*Coalition.
The Ombudsman's report highlights the state and observance of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine in 2023. Among its recommendations, the document states that laws must be passed to protect people from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The draft partnership law itself has existed since March 2023. LGBTQI+ activists hope that since Parliament as a whole accepted the report, it is likely that the partnership bill will also be on the agenda.
