Lawmakers in the small European country bordering Switzerland and Austria approved a marriage equality law in May 2024. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Switzerland since 2022 and in Austria since 2019.

The US Embassy in Bern, the capital of Switzerland, used the following phrases in its X post: "This milestone is a testament to the dedication and advocacy of countless individuals who work tirelessly for equality."
