McDonald's backs down on workplace inclusivity policies

Fast-food giant McDonald's has joined the ranks of companies that have backed down from their work inclusiveness efforts.

McDonald’s has announced that it will be stepping back from its work on equality, fairness and inclusion in the workplace.

The move follows decisions by companies such as JPMorgan Chase, home improvement retailer Lowe’s and motorcycle manufacturers Harley Davidson and Ford Motor Company in the US, making McDonald’s the latest major company to step back from its work on equality, fairness and inclusion.

The company said the decision was made after comparing it to “other companies that are re-evaluating their programs.”

McDonald’s executives wrote in an open letter to employees that they are still committed to inclusion, but will be removing specific diversity targets for senior leadership and ending a program that encourages suppliers to increase their minority leaders.
