Russia fines man for song cover
A man in Krasnoyarsk has been fined for using an LGBTQI+ flag on a song cover.
The Zheleznodorozhny District Court in Krasnoyarsk has fined Yegor D. for “open display of prohibited symbols.” The symbols were found on the covers of the songs “Po Funk” and “Dzhekpot” that he added to the “Music” section of his VKontakte account.
According to the ruling, officers from the Center for Combating Extremism discovered an audio recording on Yegor’s page that featured a swastika in the title of the rap group “Tyazhelaya Atletika” (Heavy Athletics). They also noted other songs with a rainbow flag on their covers.
Yegor participated in the court hearing via video link and fully admitted his guilt. He was fined 1,000 rubles.
