Powerful message for parents from Christina Chang

Christina Chang, who stars in the TV series Heated Rivalry, has been drawing attention with her inspiring message for parents of LGBTQI+ children.

In an interview with Variety, the actress spoke about the touching scenes she filmed with Shane (Hudson Williams) in the highly anticipated season one finale of the series and the energy she wanted her character to convey to the audience.

“I wanted to make sure that when she steps outside, it’s not about her… You don’t know what she’s going to say. There is a moment of suspension… when I read the scene, I was emotional, and then ever since then, I have been emotional,“⁠ Chang said.

Chang also shared her advice for parents going through the coming-out moment of their child:

“Your love for your child and their well-being is the most paramount. . Everyone has a different definition of protection, but loving and protecting them means seeing them for who they are and embracing that“.⁠

The actress added that if a child dares to share this truth with their parent, it is important to understand that this path is not easy:

“If your child has the courage to tell you this, just know that it likely wasn’t easy. So just love them for that, and work through it together.”⁠
