Grok AI bot creates “undressed” images of women and girls without their consent
In recent days, an artificial intelligence chatbot called Grok, used on the X platform, has raised serious ethical and legal concerns. Users uploaded photos of women to Grok, which created images that showed them in underwear, bikinis, covered in fluids, in fear or being abused without their consent. According to research, these images (created by the AI) also included images of children.
The debate began last week after screenshots were posted on social media. Users gave explicit sexual and violent instructions to photos of real women, such as “take off her clothes”, “spread her legs”, and “show her body”. The execution of such commands by Grok shows a complete disregard for the concept of consent.
In a post on social media, one user wrote: “It is appalling and disgusting that X allows such images to be created without people’s consent.” The idea quickly gained widespread support.
Interestingly, in the wake of this scandal, Elon Musk shared the rise of Grok in app stores, reposting explicit AI images of mostly young and thin women. According to analytics companies, Grok’s daily downloads increased by 54 percent in just a few days.
Women’s rights activists, technology watchdogs and several international organizations say that this incident once again proves that the X platform is using artificial intelligence irresponsibly and dangerously. While other technology companies have implemented strict mechanisms to prevent such abuses, X’s failure to put adequate restrictions raises serious questions.
