Distribution of "Heated Rivalry" banned in Russia
Moscow's Cheremushkinsky Court has banned the distribution in Russia of three websites hosting Rachel Reid's novel "Heated Rivalry," which depicts a romance between two hockey players.
The sites in question are the pirate pages BookPlaneta, Siteknig, and Libsafe. While the full text of the novel was previously available on the first two, they now display a notice stating that access has been blocked at the request of the copyright holder.
The Prosecutor's Office filed the case with the court. During the investigation, officials discovered "literature promoting extremist LGBT ideology" on the websites. The court ruling did not specify exactly what the Prosecutor's Office deemed to constitute "propaganda" within the novel.
