Elton John's Party Raises $ 3 Million for Global HIV Fight

The 29th Oscar Party of the Elton John AIDS Foundation this year was virtual, but still earned money to help HIV-positive people.

This year's Oscar Party, hosted by the Elton John AIDS Foundation since 1993, immediately following the Academy Awards, raised $ 3 million towards the global fight against AIDS, ABC News reported. Dua Lipa performed at the event, performing the songs Levitating, Don’t Start No, Pretty Please and Hallucinate, as well as a duet with Sir Elton: together they sang Love Again.

Other contributors included actor Neil Patrick Harris, singer Lady Gaga, movie star Cynthia Erivo and cast of one of John's favorite recent television series, It's A Sin.

“We haven’t missed a single year yet and definitely didn’t plan to cancel our Oscar party for the Foundation this year, even though we understood that everything can only be online for now,” Elton John said before the party.

This year, the money raised will go to support young people from vulnerable groups, as well as other people living with HIV around the world. There are 1,600 new HIV infections among young people worldwide every day.

Recall that the Elton John Foundation also actively supports the Russian LGBT community.
