Trans women were evicted by police

Today, June 9, three trans women living near the Dostlug cinema in Baku were forcibly evicted from their house by officers of the 20th police station.

One of the survivors told about the event Minority Azerbaijan.

According to her, they did not have any problems with the landlord or neighbours. Today, however, the police arrived at their home, demanded that they have to leave immediately, and used force to evict them. All the belongings and money of the women were left in the house.

Although the victims complained to the Ombudsman's Office, the Ombudsman did not accept them. Currently, the lawyer is taking appropriate steps to protect their rights. However, the victims have no place to stay.

According to ILGA Europe, Azerbaijan ranks last among 49 European countries in terms of LGBTQ + rights over the past seven years, including 2021.
