May 17 message from the French embassy

Yesterday, the French Embassy in Azerbaijan posted a message on the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Interphobia on May 17.

The embassy translated the French Foreign Ministry's statement into Azerbaijani: “The fight against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia is a constant battle that France is leading with strength. France supports the goal of universal decriminalization of homosexuality: #LoveIsLove."

The French Foreign Ministry noted that it is actively involved in the decriminalization of homosexuality, both inside and outside the UN, and in the fight against stigma and serious human rights violations against LGBTI+s in the world.

"France regrets that in too many countries, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people continue to be victims of violence, torture, arbitrary arrests, harassment, discrimination or even murder, committed with impunity, without the authorities taking appropriate measures in response," - the statment by French Foreign Ministry said.
