Avaz Hafizli's grave neglected

A headstone was not placed on the grave of murdered LGBTQ+ activist, journalist Avaz Hafizli. Journalist Nurlan Libre reported this on his Facebook account.

He said that when Avaz Hafizli died, his family was approached to cover the funeral expenses. However, the family refused this offer and said that they will do all the procedures themselves. It was recently revealed that the family had been lying for months and that Avaz's grave had been neglected.

Currently, journalist Nurlan Libre appealed to the public with a call for donations to place a headstone for Avaz.

Avaz Hafizli was killed by his cousin on February 22 of this year with multiple stab wounds on the grounds of a hate crime. The murderer Amrulla Gulaliyev, was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison. Avaz's brother, who is the legal heir, said at the court hearing that he pardoned the killer and had no complaints about him. During the burial, his family tried to hide the location of his grave from the public.
