An attack on LGBTQI+s in Sydney

Two men have been arrested by Australian police after a mob attacked LGBT activists outside a church in Sydney. This was reported by the BBC.

The group was protesting at an event attended by right-wing politician Mark Latham. Police said that peaceful protesters were set upon by a "mob" of about 250 people outside the church. Two men were arrested and charged with encouraging the commission of crimes and common assault respectively.

The incident follows last Saturday's clashes between pro- and anti-transgender groups in Melbourne.  The Australian Liberal Party is attempting to expel its MP Moira Deeming, who attended the event in Melbourne.
