EU confirms no funding for 'anti-LGBT' zones in Poland

The European Commission has confirmed that regions in Poland enforcing anti-LGBTQ+ zones will lose EU funding.

Over 100 municipalities declared themselves LGBT-free zones in 2019, leading to concerns about discrimination. The Commission warned that discriminatory policies would result in funding revocation.

Following a visit by European Commissioners Elisa Ferreira and Nicolas Schmit, assurances were given that funding would not be granted to authorities participating in discriminatory actions. The Commission will continue monitoring the situation and expects strict adherence to the anti-discrimination clause.
