Trans woman tortured to death in Baku

On July 5, the body of Hulya Sadigova, a trans woman born in 1997, was found in the village of Khojakhasan in Baku. It was revealed that she was tortured to death. Hulya's aunt reported this to the police. The murder occurred 2-3 days before the discovery of the body. During that time, Hulya's friends had contacted her mother to inform her that Hulya was missing and they couldn't find her.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan currently holds the 49th position, the lowest ranking, on the Rainbow Map of ILGA-Europe organization for the protection of LGBTQ+ rights. The country experiences ongoing violence and killings against the LGBTQ+ community.
