Gay British couple denied shelter while escaping Greece wildfires

Gay British couple, Sean Palmer and Matt Smith, faced discrimination during a frantic escape from Greece's wildfires.

The couple, with their young son, fled their hotel in Pefkos on Rhodes Island as flames closed in. They were initially offered shelter but abruptly turned away by a homeowner who claimed they weren't a "traditional family."

The shocking incident highlights the struggles non-traditional families can face in times of crisis.

The wildfires, fueled by a southern Europe heatwave, continue to devastate the region.

Despite the ordeal, the couple was assisted by TUI, the travel company, who arranged their safe return to the UK and offered compensation for their disrupted holiday.
