Trans woman has been arrested in Baku in connection with a criminal case

According to the investigation case presented to journalists by the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, a person named Rasim Aliyev contacted a trans sex worker through Instagram and agreed to pay 300 AZN in exchange for sexual services. However, he refused to pay the agreed amount after the service. This led to an argument between the individuals.

The trans woman took a knife from the kitchen and threatened to harm herself if she was not paid. During this altercation, Rasim Aliyev was injured in the abdomen while trying to grab the knife.

The woman stated, "I did not intend to kill him; instead, I was going to harm myself. He injured himself while trying to take the knife from me. I later turned myself in to the police."

The trans woman has been charged under Article 126.2.4 of the Criminal Code for intentional harm to health and hooliganism.

The court designates the trans woman as a "man" and the government-affiliated media publishes the name assigned to her in the documents.

A few months ago, another trans woman named Ayten had an altercation with a client who refused to pay. During the argument, the client killed Ayten and dumped her body by the roadside. The Baku City Main Police Department and the Prosecutor's Office have not responded to journalists' inquiries about the details of the incident.

Azerbaijan is one of the worst countries in Europe for trans rights.
