Ilqara Kazimova is accused of making homophobic threats

Queer activist who reached out to Minority Azerbaijan said they have been subjected to threats by singer Ilqara Kazimova.

According to the activist, she met Ilqara through someone Ilqara was in a relationship with some time ago and was subjected to homophobic questions by her. After Ilqara broke up with this person, she blamed the queer activist for the breakup and applied various forms of pressure against her.

She threatened to disgrace the activist by revealing her sexual orientation and began spreading false information about her at a place the activist frequently visited, damaging her public reputation.

“Because of my orientation, she said I was sick and needed treatment. She shared unpleasant information about me using fake profiles, tagging the DJs and other people at the place I visited. She called me from different people's phones and insulted me.”

On June 13, the activist received a call from the 21st police station, informing her that Ilqara Kazimova had filed a complaint against them.

The activist has stated that they are currently discussing their next steps with their lawyer.

Minority Azerbaijan is ready to publish the position of the other party as well.
