Grindr ‘blocks explore function around Paris Olympic village’

Anyone looking for gay love in the Paris Olympic village is out of luck: LGBTQI+ dating app Grindr appears to have disabled global visibility, to protect competitors.

Grindr noted on X account that the dating app’s “explore” function has been limited in the Olympic village in Paris, which will be home to almost 15,000 athletes during The Games, which begin on Friday (26 July).

“If athletes are not out or come from a country where being LGBTQ+ is dangerous or illegal, using Grindr can put them at risk. That’s why we disable location-based features within the Olympic Village,” - Grindr mentioned.

Grindr said to the trailblazing LGBTQI+ athletes heading to Paris, “we can't wait to see you shine.”
