Celebration of women who don’t fit the mold— SevilFest
This summer, Sevil International Women's Documentary Film Festival returns for its sixth edition, bringing together feminism, art, and fearless expression. Taking place from 5–13 July across Baku, Sheki, and Lankaran, the festival boldly interrogates the contradictions women face in society:
Expected to be submissive, yet strong. Invisible, yet constantly visible. Glorified for being a “woman,” yet silenced for the same reason.
Sevil International Women's Documentary Film Festival invites you to break the silence and question the norms:
Why such contradictory roles? Why are women who don’t conform seen as “wrong”?”
This year, SevilFest 2025 opens arms to all who live on their own terms, who define their own boundaries.
The jury selecting films for the competition section is as diverse as it is discerning:
Fidan Akhundova – artist and animation director, with work exhibited from Venice Biennale to Berlin and Milan.
Sofia Malikova – award-winning filmmaker and the first Tsakhur to represent her ethnic group at the UN.
Afaq Yusifli – documentary director and international project manager at the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan.
SevilFest 2025 brings bold topics, diverse guests, and powerful stories to your screens from 5–13 July.
