Head of Belarusian Red Cross calls homosexuality a disease
The local Red Cross once again speaks the language of propaganda.
In Belarus, the head of the Red Cross, Dmitry Shevtsov, stated in an interview with a state-run publication that homosexuality is a “mental disorder.”
He further accused the World Health Organization of removing homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases “for money.” As an example, Shevtsov suggested that “in some time, a society of cannibals may lawfully emerge.”
“For instance, as a doctor, I have the right to say on air that homosexuality is a disease. It used to be regarded as one of the personality’s mental disorders. If a person denies their own gender, this is not normal,” Shevtsov declared.
It should be noted that the “Belarusian Red Cross Society” (BRCS) is formally part of the international movement but has long functioned as a pro-government structure that blatantly violates neutrality — one of the core principles of the Red Cross. The organization effectively operates in the interests of the Lukashenko regime. Its head, Dmitry Shevtsov, regularly participates in propaganda events and has repeatedly made homophobic and pseudoscientific statements that discredit the organization.
