In the US, a 61-year-old woman gave birth to her own grandson. She became a surrogate mother for the daughter of her son and his husband, reports NBC.

Childbirth was held at the Omaha Medical Center (Nebraska), Elliott Doherty and Matthew Eledge became parents. The mother of the second, Cecile Eledge, and carried away the little girl, Uma Louise Dougherty-Eledge, with a baby weight of 6 pounds.

The ovum cell for fertilization was given by Matthew Leah’s sister. Initially, the couple wanted to find a surrogate mother on the side, but the process seemed too complicated for them.

Dougherty and Matthew Eledge say that they foresee difficult conversations with the daughter and narrow reactions to the unconventional story of the birth of minds, but the couple are ready to explain the circumstances of Uma when she grows up.

“I will tell her that Aunt Lea gave her a piece of herself,” says Matthew. “She gave the seed to start the gift of life, and her grandmother provided a loving garden for her to bloom, and I think it’s great.”
