Istanbul Pride: Tomatoes with Hormones found their owners

The 29th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week started tonight (June 20) with the Hormone Tomato Award Ceremony.

At the award ceremony, which has been held since 2005, 17 categories were voted this year. As a result of the survey, in which a total of 9,308 votes were used, tomatoes were presented to LGBTI+phobics of the year.

At the opening of the ceremony, the Pride Week Committee said, “We embrace all the queers who participated in this democracy feast one by one!”

Category 1 - Brands: LC Waikiki!

LC WAIKIKI, targeting LGBTI+s by saying that "they will not include rainbows in their designs"!

Category 2 - Venues: Keyf-i Kunefe

The winner of the venues category is Keyf-i Künefe, whose door says "We are closed to LGBT"!

Category 3 - Art: Özdemir Erdoğan

The winner of the art category is Özdemir Erdoğan, who produces LGBTI+phobia through Zeki Müren.

Category 4 - Misogyny: Derya Yanık

Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Policies, won the Mizogynyi category!

Category 5 - Boğaziçi Special: Süleyman Soylu

Süleyman Soylu, who declared LGBTI+s as deviant through the Boğaziçi resistance, was given another tomato in the Bosphorus Special category.

Category 6 - Education: Boğaziçi University Rectorate

Boğaziçi University Trustee Office, which closed BÜLGBTİ+ in the education category, gathered police on campuses, attacked students and handcuffed the doors!

Category 7 - Istanbul Convention Special: People's Alliance

The People's Alliance, which attacked the Istanbul Convention with statements such as not empowering the family and women and "legitimising sexual perversions", won the Istanbul Convention Special category!

Category 8 - Eyidisli Tomato: TERFs on Twitter continuously creating HIVphobia. 

Category 9 - Institutions: Istanbul Police Department

Category 10 - Media: Seren Serengil

Category 11 - Health: Taksim Education Research Doctor Erol Kuroğlu

Category 12 - Politics: Süleyman Soylu

Category 13 - Social Media Mucilages - Yasemin Varlık

Category 14 - International: Egypt

Category 15 - Sports: Melih Şendil

Category 16 - Transphobia: TRT 2

Category 17 - ALL STAR: 12th President of Turkey
