Pride Week event banned by police threat

The Islands Police Department prevented the Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week events to be held in Heybeliada.

According to the news of KaosGL, a vegan picnic was going to be held today as part of Pride Week events. The Police Department, which met with the venue, threatened the owner of the business and canceled the event.

Thereupon, the 29th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week Committee carried the vegan picnic and other activities they planned to hold in Heybeliada to Maçka at 16:00.

In the statement, the committee called "We welcome all queers and LGBTI+ rights defenders to the picnic".

It should be noted that, the 29th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week is taking place online and physically this year on June 20-27 with the theme of "street".
