Trans people protested in Baku

Blogger Sevinj Huseynova's phobic video about the LGBTI+ community has provoked protests from trans women.

On June 8, 10 members of the LGBTI+ community in Baku protested in front of the 17th police station. They said the video was obscene and insulting and degraded the honour and dignity of thousands of people. Thus, the women complained to the police about Sevinj Huseynova and demanded legal actions be taken.

According to the victims, such phobic speeches can lead to suicide by trans folks. The victim, Damla, said that Sevinj Huseynova's calls lead to hate crimes and murders of LGBTI+s.

Blogger Sevinj Huseynova also demanded in her video appeal that trans people not be allowed in cafes and restaurants.

Damla said that this is a violation of the rights of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The victims said they will appeal to the court and defend their rights to the end. They have already filed a complaint in the police station. The complainants stated that they had the right to life and that their liberties will not be taken away.
