Activists established “Kuir Gücü” initiative

The "Kuir Gücü" (Queer Power) initiative group is a new initiative group on gender and LGBTQI + rights.

The main goal of the Initiative Group is to raise awareness of local queer and queer-friendly individuals, especially on related topics, to develop their knowledge and skills, to teach foreign languages and access to foreign language sources, to conduct trainings on various topics, including personal development, mental health and thus achieving the strengthening of individuals belonging to community.

The Initiative Group has developed an Action Plan to achieve these goals. The founders note that this Action Plan will be implemented by organising seminars, trainings and informational meetings in Baku. This Action Plan covers the following areas:

- Free legal, social, psychological and sexual health education for queer and queer-friendly individuals;

- Improving the foreign language skills of queer and queer-friendly individuals and guiding them in this field;

- Information on security in the physical and digital world;

- Capacity building methods to ensure economic freedom;

- The importance of medical health and the importance of healthy sex;

- The importance of mental health and how it can be improved.

The founders of the Queer Power initiative group are Alp Aliyev, an individual and activist of LGBTQI+ rights, and Saadat Agayeva, a graduate of Baku State University with a degree in Social Work and currently working as a UN Young Ambassador for Gender Equality, supporting the rights of queer-friendly and queer individuals.

Both founders are well aware of the challenges facing the local community and individuals and have taken the initiative to contribute to the development of the community.
