Discrimination and violence applications increased by 2,4 times  after Saraçhane

After the anti-LGBTI+ hate rally in Saraçhane, Istanbul, applications to SPoD's LGBTI+ Hotline on discrimination and violence increased by 2,4 times  compared to the previous year. This was reported by KaosGL. 

After the "Great Family Gathering" in Saraçhane, Istanbul on September 18, SPoD followed the changes in the applications received on the LGBTI+ Hotline.

According to the data shared by the association, which evaluated the impact of the hate rallies that started to travel from city to city after Saraçhane; along with the rally in Saraçhane, applications regarding discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity to the LGBTI+ Hotline increased by 46%, and applications for violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity increased by 36% compared to the previous month. 

2,4 times  increase over last year. 

When the applications in the same period are evaluated in 2021, a larger increase emerges. The total number of applications on discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity increased by 2,4 times compared to the same period of the previous year.
