LGBTQI+s protest in Tel Aviv

Protests have erupted in Tel Aviv after Israeli police closed an investigation into a homophobic attack despite video evidence.

The attack saw far-right youths vandalise an apartment displaying a Pride flag in Tel Aviv's Montefiore neighbourhood.

Protesters gathered outside the police headquarters to condemn the closure of the investigation just 10 days after it was launched.

The attack occurred after a weekly mass demonstration against the government's planned judicial overhaul. The youths were filmed while trying to tear down a Pride flag and throw stones at the apartment window, which eventually shattered.

Pro-LGBTQ+ demonstrators waved rainbow flags and chanted "homophobia begins in the halls of the government'' in reaction to the investigation's closure.
