UK must ‘pressure’ Ugandan president

Activists are urging the UK government to pressure Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to veto an anti-gay bill.

LGBTQI+ groups and allies are protesting the bill outside Uganda House in Trafalgar Square.

The bill would criminalize even identifying as LGBTQI+ and impose harsh penalties, including up to 20 years in prison or the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality.” The protesters are demanding an end to the legislation and international support to pressure Museveni to drop the bill.

Museveni recently refused to sign the bill, but sent it back to parliament to make it even harsher.
