REAL TV's attack on the LGBTQ+ flag

REAL TV, a television channel associated with the Azerbaijani government, targeted the rainbow flag raised by the British Embassy in relation to the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia on May 17. Several materials were published about this on the channel's Facebook page.

In one of the materials, a live broadcast was conducted in front of the British Embassy. The presenter, Qandab Mammadova, stated that they asked the embassy about the reason for raising the LGBTQ+ flag, and the embassy responded that they did it in relation to May 17, the day against homophobia and transphobia. According to the presenter, the manager of the Landmark building stated that the part of the building where the embassy is located is rented by the embassy, and Landmark is not responsible for such situations.

The report stated that "the LGBTQ+ flag contradicts national mentality and family values, and it is unacceptable and intolerable for such incidents to occur and for Landmark management to turn a blind eye to this situation."

The title of another video is "The Gay-n-Bow Emerging After the Rain." The report emphasizes that the British people have "lost the distinction between male and female." Then the owner of the Landmark building, where the British Embassy is located, is targeted, and it is stated that they are also responsible for hanging the LGBTQ+ flag.

It is also noted that in 2018, with the support of the Dutch Embassy, two films with LGBTQ+ content were shown in the Landmark building, and Landmark management turned a blind eye to it.

In another live broadcast aired in the evening at around 9:00 PM, the presenter, Qandab Mammadova, once again stood in front of the British Embassy and reported that the LGBTQ+ flag had been taken down. However, it is unclear from the report whether the flag was removed at the end of May 17 or based on the request of Real TV.
