Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan: petition to ban “LGBT propaganda” does not violate human rights

The press service of the department reported this to The Village Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan believes that the homophobic petition demanding the introduction of a law “on a complete ban on open and covert LGBT propaganda in Kazakhstan” does not violate the rights and freedoms of citizens and does not call for any discrimination.

It should be noted that this petition previously collected 50 thousand signatures - this is the required number for official consideration. Now the Ministry of Culture is organising a working group on this issue, which will include representatives of interested parties, government bodies and public associations.

At the same time, the department responded that as part of the consideration of the petition, public discussions will be held, as well as international experience will be studied.
