EU effectively halts Georgia's EU accession process
The European Commission has said in its enlargement report that the reason for the de facto halting of Georgia's EU integration process is the country's anti-LGBTI+ and "foreign agent laws".
The European Commission, the EU's executive body, published its enlargement report on Georgia on October 30. The Commission said in its report that it will not recommend the start of EU membership talks unless Georgia changes course after the Georgian Dream Party wins the elections.
According to an article published on The Guardian news portal, the European Commission, which recommended granting Georgia EU candidate status last year, said that the reason for the de facto halting of Georgia's EU accession process was the recently adopted anti-LGBTI+ and "foreign agent laws".
