The European Commission, the executive body of the European Union (EU), has announced the enlargement reports for 10 countries, including Turkey. The reports were announced to the public in Brussels by EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.

The report on Turkey also assessed the situation regarding LGBTI+ rights.

The report stated that Turkey had not implemented the recommendations in last year’s enlargement report. The report, which emphasized that the recommendations in question were still valid, stated that “Turkey should effectively combat all forms of racism and discrimination, including those against LGBTIQ+ individuals, and ensure the protection of minorities.”
