Trans woman attacked in Baku
A case of violence against a trans woman was recorded in the Razin settlement of Baku. This was reported by QıyVaar.
In the video footage circulating on social networks, a group of young men can be seen demonstrating aggressive behavior towards a trans woman walking on the street, insulting her and throwing a piece of wood. During the incident, it is observed that the victim tried to defend herself.
This is the second similar incident recorded against trans people in Baku in recent months. In connection with another attack that occurred near the Neftchilar metro station in the capital on September 15, “Minority Azerbaijan”, “Qıy Vaar”, “QueeRadar”, “Transvisionary” and “Q Collective” issued a joint statement condemning the incident.
The statement noted that the increase in such cases leads to the deepening of transphobia in society and the normalization of violence. The organizations called on law enforcement agencies to respond promptly to such incidents, conduct transparent investigations, and make the results public.
Minority Azerbaijan believes that such cases of violence necessitate further strengthening of awareness-raising measures on human rights and tolerance among various segments of society.
