Gunay Arazova spoke about her path to breaking stereotypes in bodybuilding
In an interview published on the Media.az, bodybuilder, fitness model and trainer Gunay Arazova talked about starting sports at the age of 28, the stereotypes she encountered at a time when women were underrepresented in gyms, and how this path changed her life.
In the interview, Arazova said that before starting sports, she was a housewife and mother, and fitness seemed like an unattainable dream for a long time. At that time, it was considered a rarity for women to go to the gym in Azerbaijan. Despite this, she participated in international tournaments in bodybuilding in the Body Fitness category and decided to represent Azerbaijan in foreign arenas.
Arazova emphasized that for her, bodybuilding is not only a matter of physical appearance, but also a matter of health and inner strength. She openly expressed her position against gender stereotypes in sports, saying that “muscles have no gender.”
One of the areas that occupies a special place in her professional activity is work with people with physical disabilities. Gunay Arazova noted that she works with children with cerebral palsy, scoliosis, and other posture disorders through individual exercise programs, muscle strengthening, stretching, and proper nutrition, and supports their increased mobility and self-confidence.
