Intervention and Arrests at Istanbul's Trans Pride March

In Istanbul, police intervened as individuals gathered in certain streets of Şişli and Beyoğlu districts during the Trans Pride Week activities. According to the organisers, 8 people were detained, one of them was under 18 years old. The minor was released soon after.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül had previously issued a message stating that Pride Week marches would "never be allowed." The Taksim and Şişhane metro stations, as well as the Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line, were closed during the morning hours.

Barricades were set up in Taksim Square to prevent potential marches. A group attempting to march from Harbiye to Taksim also intervened.
