International LGBTI+ movement can be recognised as extremist in Russia

Yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Justice announced that it had sent an administrative claim to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to recognize the International LGBT Social Movement as extremist and to ban its activities in Russia.

In fact, such a claim was received by the court on November 2 and was transferred to the judge on the same day; already on November 8, the claim was accepted for trial by the court. The case has been classified as classified. It will be considered in a closed court session, in which only the judge, the court secretary, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Justice and the prosecutor's office will be present.

The court decision may not be published by the court for reasons of “national security,” and therefore the public will not know what arguments the Ministry of Justice gave and why the court suddenly decided to ban the “LGBT International Social Movement.”
