In 2024, fines for "LGBT propaganda" exceeded 25 million rubles in Russia

The minimum fine for "LGBT propaganda" was 50 thousand rubles. This was reported by ParniPlus.

Russian publication Verstka analysed cases from the websites of district courts and justices of the peace and came to the conclusion that in 2024, Russian judges considered at least 131 cases of "LGBT propaganda". The total amount of fines is at least 25 million rubles. The exact total amount is unknown, since decisions have only been published for 79 cases.

The publication also points out that some online cinemas were fined several times. In November, Kinopoisk service was fined 3 million rubles. The police also drew up several “LGBT propaganda” reports on the same people—for example, a Muscovite received 13 fines for LGBQTI+ content in her “saved” VKontakte accounts.
