Sun, Sea, and Freedom
Top Destinations for Queer Travel
Expedia, one of the world’s leading travel platforms, has compiled a list of the best summer vacation destinations that truly welcome LGBTQ+ people. The company conducted an extensive survey, highlighting several destinations.
The list includes both long-established LGBTQ+ hotspots and newer locations gaining popularity among queer travelers. Here’s where to go to enjoy sunshine without stress.
Brighton, United Kingdom
Brighton is a true symbol of queer freedom on the British coast. With its pebble beach, retro arcade machines, cozy bars and restaurants, and the extravagant Royal Pavilion, the city has long been a favorite destination for LGBTQ+ visitors.
Many British queers view Brighton as a "safe haven": it hosts one of the UK’s most vibrant Pride parades, features numerous queer bars, and is known for its open-minded locals.
Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos has long held its title as the gay capital of the Mediterranean. Whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, crystal-clear waters, and beach clubs where DJs play until dawn — all make it a magnet for LGBTQ+ tourists from around the world.
The island is packed with queer-friendly bars, beaches, and hotels. The famous Super Paradise beach is a favorite for those looking to sunbathe and dance in an atmosphere of total freedom.
Phuket, Thailand
This destination needs little introduction: people come here for sun, diving, Thai massages — and increasingly, for peace and acceptance.
Last year, Thailand made history as the first Southeast Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage. The news was met with joy by LGBTQ+ couples both in the region and beyond.
Phuket isn’t just about beaches and coconuts — it’s also a place where queer couples can feel safe. And if you’re a fan of The White Lotus, you can stroll through its filming locations here.
