Man who murdered Nida Nazlıer arrested in Antalya
Arif Ömer El Hüseyin has confessed to the murder of trans woman Nida Nazlıer and has been placed under arrest. Two of Nazlıer’s friends, who were initially detained for questioning, have been released.
Nida Nazlıer, a trans woman living in Antalya’s Muratpaşa district, was found dead in her home on 31 July, with her throat slit.
According to DHA, H.İ., who lived with Nazlıer, came home after work and found her in the bathroom, stabbed. He called for help from the balcony, and neighbours notified emergency services.
Police arrived and began investigating the scene. During the search, they discovered a knife buried in the soil inside a flower pot in the garden. The knife was collected as evidence.
Both H.İ. and H.H. (aged 39), a friend who had spoken with Nazlıer on the phone shortly before and had come to collect a house key, were initially detained but later released after giving statements.
Authorities reviewed nearby CCTV footage, and the body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for further examination.
Following the investigation, Arif Ömer El Hüseyin admitted to committing the murder and has been formally arrested.
